ABOUT THE PROJECT
Northern Railways Construction Organization - Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Jammu & Kashmir
This network will provide an alternate and a reliable transportation system to the entire Jammu & Kashmir. The Indian Government embarked on a 326 km long railway line which will join the Kashmir valley with rest of the Indian Railways. The project has been declared as a project of national importance. Jammu – Udhampur – Katra – Quazigund - Baramulla Railway line is the largest project in the construction of a mountain railway line since Indian independence. It is considered as perhaps the most challenging new railway line project undertaken. The train will pass through the Himalayas, full of natural charms but also straddled with geological challenges and surprises, tectonics thrust and faults. The length from Udhampur to Baramulla has been divided into four sections, out of which the most significant one is the stretch between Katra – Banihal (111 km).
The project scope will include building two tunnels for T49, both approx. 13 km in length and T50 which will be 210 mts in length. STRABAG Group is privileged and honored to have been selected for such a prestigious project of critical national importance.
